Does This Look Real?

Today, I want to address label addicts.  You know, those of you who think vintage and thrift is nice, and maybe you even shop vintage/thrift sometimes, but you’re not fully convinced.  After all, what are you without the hottest designer bags/jeans/shoes/accessories?Let me let you in on a little secret: in the art world (read: the design world) we all know that everything really has been done before.  The best designers can hope for is to improve upon or at least change an old design enough that the general public accepts it as something new.  This is a major advantage for you.  Why?  Because if you comb vintage and thrift shops with a keen eye for the designs that you love, I’ll bet you that you’ll find something comparable.  I used to be a label addict, too.  But you can’t deny the price difference when you shop vintage and thrift.  What really won me over was when I started finding designer-esq things that I loved in thrift stores, I realized that I really had something that was nearly one of a kind.  When you simply grab up the latest designer duds, EVERYONE has your exact bag/shoes/jeans/accessories.  When you find a really great look alike for cheap, you get tons of compliments.  Try it and see if I’m wrong. In case you need some inspiration, let me give you an example.  If you love Burberry, head to this page on ModCloth.com.  Most people cannot tell this scarf from the real thing, and it’s only $11.95!  You’re welcome. Highlad Titan Scarf - Modcloth.com
